Cats on Tuesday

It´s raining today in northern Germany. The weather forecast says we will have sunny and hot weather the next days but today it is only 10°C/62°F with rain and strong wind.
What can cat do in this weather ??? Yes, helping her bean with writing for COT.
Believe me, it does not get easier with such a large cat to write something.
Last week Luzie and Frieda had their annual vaccation at the vet. They were not really thrilled about the trip in their boxes. Unfortunately I could not take any other photos with two cats at the vet.
Last week I took a rare photo with Luzie and Frieda on the small scratching pole. Today I found Luna and Frieda together on the big scratching pole. Two seconds later Frieda jumped down. They are not happy together on the same place.

Katzenminze Catnip

Luzie liebt Katzenminze. Zum Glück wächst sie nun endlich wieder in unserem Garten.

Luzie loves Catnip. Fortunately it now grows again in our garden ! Und nun fällt luzie in Katzenminze-extase...And now Luzie fall in catnip ectasy...
Ich könnte stundenlang zusehen, wie hingebungsvoll sie an der Pflanze schnüffelt. I could watch for hours , as she devotedly sniffs at the plant.

Allerdings ist Luzie die einzige Katze, die so intensiv auf Katzenminze reagiert. Luna und Frieda schnüffeln zwar gelegentlich daran, aber gehen dann schnell weiter.
However it is only Luzie who has a response to this plant. Luna and Frieda don´t fall in catnip ectasy.
Es ist Sonntagnachmittag und das Wetter hält sich heute bedeckt und es regnet ab und zu.
Ich wünsche trotzdem allen einen schönen Restsonntag!
It is sunday afternoon and the weather is cloudy and it rains now and then in northern Germany.

Cats on Tuesday

We had a very mild winter in northern Germany. Only a few frost and no snow. That is a big advantage for all vermin. They could well increase.
Here you can see Luna scratching her fur. She had a big vermin on her skin and come to me to ask me for helping her.
Also Frieda asked me for helping her to remove the.... big tick on her skin
Here it is...a awful tick .I killed it after that photo shooting because it can transfer Meningitis or Borreliose. The German name is "Zecke." and everyone is afraid of it. Unfortunately we have a lot of ticks this year and the medicine "Frontline" against does not works on Luna anymore. We humans can use a vaccination but it does not help against the Borreliose.
Yesterday I found Luzie and Frieda eating together on the small scratching pole. That is very unusual and I´m glad about that photo. Isn´t it funny...the two tails wag back and forth.
After that they hissed together again :o(

Rainy weekend

Nach 2 wunderschönen Wochen gibt es mal wieder schlechtes Wetter. Es regnet in Norddeutschland! After 2 wonderful weeks we have bad weather again. It´s raining in northern Germany.Trotzdem wünschen wir allen ein schönes Wochenende. Vielleicht tut dem einem oder anderen die Regenpause, wie mir, auch mal ganz gut. So kann ich endlich den "Bügelberg" abbauen. Nevertheless we wish everyone an nice weekend. Maybe it is not too bad because I have a lot of clothes to iron.
Frieda freut sich, dass sie rein darf. Soooo nass stand sie heute morgen vor der Tür. Frieda is happy that I let her in the house. She has become very wet this morning.
....und soooo nass ist es draussen !!! ....it´s wet outside today!

Grün Green

So grün ist es in den letzten Tagen bei uns geworden. Everything has become green in the last few days.Hier fahren Steffen und ich jeden Abend mit dem Rad . Here Steffen and I go every evening with the bycicle.
Achtung ...Pusteblume....Bitte pusten !!!! Please blow !!! Dandelion....we call it Pusteblume....

Cats on Tuesday

Dear CoT Friends, we had with sun, mothers day and a lot of wonderful days free of work and school. And all the days with warm and sunny summer weather .
Luna enjoyed the weather on our roofs. The roof is her favorite place in these days. She has a good view and everything smells wonderful.
She jumped from the car port to the tree house...
...to sit on the swing bar....here is the best view over the garden and the backyard gate...
...and here is a good place to nap. You can see the wild wine plant ? In a few days it will have big leaves and is a better place to hide.
Luzie observed Luna from the roof of the car. She preferred other places...car roof or caravan roof!
When Luna is all the day out side she has a lot of dirt and plant remains in her fur. So it will not implicated it must be brushed. But Luna don´t like to be brushed. It takes a long time...and she tries to run away. Then this happens....she has given me a deep scratch when she jumped off my knees.
It is quiet painful....but who can be angry with that lovely cat ?

Im Mai In May

Nur im Mai....gibt es Maikäfer bei uns ....und mein Mann kann es nie lassen, mir wenigstens einen davon zu präsentieren. Dieses stattliche Exemplar fühlte sich auf meiner Tastatur recht wohl. Only in may we have here in northern Germany cockchafer/ Junebugs. My hubby brings to me each year again one of these big bugs. He called it "Glücksbringer" or lucky charm.Im Mai blüht der Flieder. Dieser ist ein ganz besonderer....es ist ein Ableger den ich vor 3 Jahren von einer Freundin bekam. In diesem Jahr hat er zum ersten Mal Blüten....zwar nur an 2 Ästen aber immerhin.....In may the lilac flowers....this is a very special...I received a small plant from a friend before 3 years...now it flowers for the first time.
In (diesem) Mai ist das Wetter wunderschön !!!! In this may we have wonderful weather!

It´s May and it´s Lunas Birthday !The photo shows 3 weeks old Luna.
Please come to celebrate Lunas *3 th *birthday!!!
3 years ago Luna was born at a German Maine Coon cat breeder with the name Katzenparadies!
Her pedigree name was Fantasia vom Katzenparadies...
....but we called her Luna because the name fits to her fur.
Happy Birthday Luna !!!

A few people asked me for the bug in my last post. It is a cockchafer or Junebug , we call it Maikäfer (Maybug)because it flies only in May here in Germany.

Mai May

Heute sind sozusagen drei Feiertage in einem, 1.Mai, Tag der Arbeit, Himmelfahrt und weil die deutschen Väter es so entschieden haben, auch noch der Vatertag.
Today in Germany are 3 Holidays in one. It is 1. May, the May day, Ascension day and the German Fathers decided to have their fathers day at Ascension day.
Was machen Hund und Katz an diesem Tag ? Sie liegen im Schatten und ruhen sich aus. Heute scheint hier die Sonne, Frühling pur. Wir machen gleich einen kleinen Ausflug in den Tierpark .
What do dog and cat on a day like this. They lie in the shade and nap. We have a lot of sunshine...it is spring here.
